Painting/Plastering Foreman
No.1 Plastering and Painting Limited is a professional and growing company based in Auckland, specialising in delivering high-quality plastering and painting services to both residential and commercial clients. As our business continues to expand, we are looking for a reliable and experienced Painting/Plastering Foreman to lead our team and contribute to our success.
You will be expected to mainly work at different sites in the Auckland region and may also be directed to work out of Auckland throughout New Zealand. This job requires you to work a minimum of 30 hours per week from Monday to Friday as normal hours of work, and you may also be required to work on Saturday as well.Please note this is a permanent full-time role and the hourly pay rate would be $30-$35 based on the candidates' experience and skills.
Job Description for This Position- Prepare surfaces for painting or plastering by washing, scraping, sanding, priming, or sandblasting.
- Mix and apply paints, stains, varnishes, epoxies, and plaster materials.
- Apply finishes using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other tools.
- Patch walls, install drywall corners, and smooth plaster on various surfaces including walls, ceilings, and concrete floors.
- Install wall coverings, rubber baseboards, and perform glazing tasks when required.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding and barriers to ensure worksite safety.
- Maintain and operate tools and equipment (e.g., paint sprayers, sanders, trowels, mixers).
- Clean tools and ensure proper handling and storage of hazardous materials.
- Coordinate daily work plans and allocate tasks to team members.
- Monitor team performance and ensure high standards of workmanship and site safety.
- Communicate with clients and director to ensure project requirements and timelines are met.
- Provide guidance and support to less experienced painters and plasterers.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in the construction industry is required. Given the leadership nature of this role, prior experience in supervising or managing teams will be highly regarded.
- Fluency in both English and Vietnamese is an advantage. As many of our team members are Vietnamese speakers, the ability to communicate effectively with both English-speaking clients and the Vietnamese team is a valuable asset for this position.
- Relevant qualification or certificate is a bonus.
- Punctual and reliable with a positive can-do attitude will be key in this role
- Be physically fit as the job involves heavy lifting.
- A positive and willing attitude to learn and progress.
- Able to work with deadlines and schedules, and available to work weekends if required.
