About the Role
We are looking for a Machine Setter to join our team at our plant based in Upper Hut. We are looking for a Machine Setter on each shift (days and afternoons). The day shift is 7am - 4pm and the afternoon shift is 4pm - 12am where you would predominantly be working alone. This is a technical process worker role and you must have mechanical experience working on machinery within a factory working on mechanical presses. You will be responsible for setting machinery for over 4,000 items/products, taking tools out, changing tools, monitoring machine output and ensuring the products meet client specifications and all products are completed to a high standard of quality. This role is technical and mechanical and you must be confident in this space. The main duties include:
- Maintain continuous operation of the range of production machinery
- Reading and understanding engineering drawings ad work sheets
- Inspecting tooling and machinery for breakdowns and general wear
- Setting a range of machinery for over 4,000 different items
- Setting and operating mechanical presses
- Rectifying machinery
- Working on a range of old machinery competing tool changes
- You will be using the process of Injection Moulding
- Maintain optimum machine output in line with the production plan
- Conduct quality checks on the finished product
- You will ideally come from a background in Injection Moulding
- You must have experience setting and operating mechanical presses
- Must be mechanically-minded
- Must be Health and Safety aware and conscious
- Must be able to work alone and in a team environment
- Experience reading and understanding Engineering drawings
- Demonstrate good numeracy and literacy skills; as well as good mechanical understanding
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug test and have no criminal convictions
- Thorough with good attention to detail
- Physically fit and able to do some heavy lifting
About the Role
Our client is a highly successful engineering company based in Upper Hutt, Wellington who specialise in agricultural, fencing and abattoir equipment. They have been operating for over 50 years and have grown significantly. They use the Injection Moulding process as it's high volume, fast-moving large orders and demanding.They operate 2 shifts (days and afternoons). The afternoon shift would predominantly be working alone.
