Feilding - Medical Lab Scientist / Technician
About the RoleThis is an entry level position with great potential for career growth in medical laboratory science.The successfully applicant will provide administrative support in the pre-analytical area of the laboratory. Key responsibilities include specimen sorting and registration, problem solving and general admin tasks.
If suitably qualified, the role may also involve assisting with patient specimen collection (phlebotomy). This is a part-time role offering 16 hours per week, rostered across Monday to Friday. About the ServiceOur laboratory is an integral part of the wider laboratory services at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waikato, servicing inpatients, outpatients and community patients.
This part time position will supplement the current laboratory team of 8 staff. The laboratory has up to date technology, and mostly performs testing of Haematology and Biochemistry samples for hospital and community patients. A smaller amount of Microbiology is performed on site.
The laboratory also issues blood products, and oversees a range of Point of Care testing for the clinical areas of the hospital. About TaumarunuiTaumarunui Hospital provides essential 24/7 emergency services and supports high-acuity patients through air and road ambulance retrievals to Waikato Hospital for complex care.
The hospital also offers a range of specialty outpatient clinics with senior visiting doctors, as well as general laboratory and radiology diagnostics. With a growing number of nurse-led services, Taumarunui Hospital follows the Taumarunui Integrated Health Care model, developed in collaboration with local community and primary health services to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.Located in the heart of the North Island, Taumarunui is the perfect base for those who love the outdoors.
