Production & Machine Operator
Roofing Industries (a subsidiary of Vulcan Steel) is a New Zealand manufacturer of metal roofing and cladding products. With 15 branches nationwide, we provide reliable supply and localised service across the country.
About the Role
We’re looking for a reliable, hands-on team player to join our busy factory in Dunedin. This is a full-time, permanent role focused on production & machine operation. Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30 am – 5:00 pm (approx. 40–45 hours per week)
What you’ll do:
Production Tasks- Assist with slitting, folding, and preparing metal materials
- Produce fascia, spouting, and flashings to specification
- Pick, pack, and dispatch customer orders
- Load and unload trucks, and assist with local deliveries
- Keep the factory clean, organised, and safe
- Operate and monitor machinery in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Follow production schedules to meet quality and delivery targets
- Conduct basic machine checks and report faults or maintenance issues
- Operate forklifts (training provided if needed)
- Experience in a manufacturing, building, or warehousing environment
- Confident with manual handling and heavy lifting
- Experience with order picking, packing, or dispatch
- Full Class 1 driver licence (required)
- Forklift licence an advantage – training can be provided
- Experience operating factory or sheet metal machinery (e.g. slitter, folder, roll former, or guillotine)
- Ability to follow production schedules and meet quality standards
- Comfortable performing basic machine checks or adjustments
- Mechanically minded and able to identify simple faults
- Willingness to learn new machinery and production processes
