The Opportunity**

Are you an experienced and independent Senior Shepherd looking to join a small, supportive farm team?

We’re seeking a passionate and skilled shepherd to take on a varied and rewarding role. Working closely with the farm manager and head shepherd, you’ll receive support to grow and develop while contributing to the daily operations of a complex multi stud farming operation.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Livestock management and stock work
  • Pasture management
  • Tractor work
  • Winter feeding
  • General farm maintenance and fencing

With diverse stock classes, allowing you to refine your skills and focus on optimising production across each class. Making this an ideal role for a capable and motivated shepherd.

**The Farm**

Just fifteen minutes from Manapouri, Duncraigen Farm is an 1100 ha (effective) property with the Waiau River and Fiordland National Park on its boundaries.

Duncraigen Station operates as a stud farm, home to an Angus cattle herd and a Romney sheep flock. These provide all bulls and rams to Pamu properties across the South Island, forming the foundation of the farm's breeding system. Complementing the stud operations is a commercial breeding and finishing enterprise.

The station follows an all-grass wintering system, with no reliance on cropping; however, supplements are produced and utilised on-farm to support livestock over the colder months.

**About You**

Bring your can-do positive attitude and broad farm experience to this varied role, along with:
  • At least two working dogs
  • Proven experience self-managing your time
  • Tractor operation experience
  • A current NZ drivers’ licence

**Benefits**

We offer a competitive salary package including health and life insurance, as well as ongoing training and personal development to help you reach your career goals.

The role comes with a range of accommodation options.

The Pamu community is strong throughout Manapouri/Te Anau with many training and social events throughout the year. There are also strong local sports, and the young farmers club is ever increasing in numbers.

**Apply Now**

Applications close on **Sunday 11 May 2025**, we will be speaking with candidates as and when they apply.
