About the Role
The position of Orderly/Security Orderly is dynamic and multifaceted, playing a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of hospital services. Responsibilities include the safe and efficient transportation of patients, medical records, equipment, and clinical waste to designated areas within the facility.This role requires exceptional customer service skills to interact professionally with both patients and staff, as well as the ability to adhere to strict timeframes and manage the physical demands inherent in the role. Previous experience in a healthcare setting or in a comparable position would be advantageous, as it would facilitate a smoother transition and a deeper understanding of the protocols and expectations associated with this vital position.
The hourly rate for this position is $29.25.

Our Hutt Valley Security Orderlies are dedicated professionals committed to fostering a safe and secure environment for both patients and staff at Te Whatu Ora Hutt Valley. With a passion for service, they collaborate closely with the hospital community to protect property, prevent theft, and uphold our core values of care and a proactive, can-do attitude.They consistently strive to deliver exceptional customer service, demonstrating respect for the rights and cultural needs of every individual. By working effectively alongside other healthcare staff across the organisation, our orderlies play a vital role in maintaining a welcoming and safe hospital environment for all.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Demonstrate a helpful and approachable demeanour to ensure customers feel comfortable and valued.
- Show strong communication skills to clearly explain information to customers and colleagues.
- Maintain good physical fitness, with at least 30 minutes of daily exercise recommended due to the physical demands of the role.
- Have a clear criminal history and be able to pass a background check.
- Commit to completing a 12'14-week full-time, rostered, rotating training program to prepare for the role.
