Regional Sports Director (Wairarapa region)

About the Role:

Do you have a passion for youth sport and the drive to grow participation across diverse communities? We’re seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Regional Sports Director (RSD) for Wairarapa Secondary Schools.

This is a full-time, 3-year fixed term role coordinating school sport across the region. You'll lead strategic planning, event coordination, workforce development, and partnerships with regional and national sporting organisations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Increase participation in school sport with a focus on equity and inclusion
  • Coordinate and deliver intercollegiate competitions and events
  • Support and upskill school sport staff, volunteers, and coaches
  • Build strategic partnerships with schools, RSOs, RSTs, and Sport NZ
  • Use insights and feedback to improve student sport experiences
  • Ensure accurate data collection and reporting (including annual census)
What We’re Looking For:
  • A leader with experience in youth sport, education, or regional coordination
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes
  • A commitment to equity and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
  • Flexibility to attend events outside traditional hours
  • Current full driver’s license and own transport
