The Role

We're looking for a VP Operations and Finance who gets excited about making complex things simple and believes in getting 1% better every day. You'll be the strategic leader who keeps our operational wheels turning while ensuring we have the financial foundation to support our ambitious growth plans.

This isn't a typical corporate role - you'll be hands-on, working directly with our CEO to help build and operationalise strategy, scale and optimise operations globally, lead and provide finance and commercial insights, and ensure compliance to keep us moving fast and smart.

What You'll Be Doing

Leadership and Strategy

Working Directly with the CEO and ELT
  • Work with others on the ELT to develop and execute Timescapes' growth strategy
  • Contribute and drive operational planning in a measurable way that translates long-term vision into actionable, short-term operational plans and initiatives.
  • Promote and protect our company culture, ensuring our values are reflected in our daily operations and that we create a positive, engaging workplace for everyone.
  • Align and manage budgets to optimise our path to success

Operations

Process & Technology That Actually Works
  • Re-imagine processes that scale in the new AI world without losing the personal touch our customers value
  • Lead technology implementations and improvements that make work easier, not harder
  • Turn data insights into actions that drive better business decisions
  • Act with intent when streamlining operations, always asking "how does this create customer value?"
Supply Chain & Service Delivery Leadership
  • Lead our Service Delivery and Supply teams to ensure every customer installation is flawless - because value starts with doing what we promise
  • Coordinate our global supply chain from camera manufacturing, assembly, through to global distribution and installations on construction sites worldwide
  • Work with teams across different regions and timezones, ensuring consistent quality whether we're in Auckland or Vancouver
  • Drive our "1% better every day" mindset in supply chain operations, logistics, and service delivery processes
  • Executing on expansion into new markets and new hardware products - because growth means bringing Timescapes value to more construction teams
  • Champion operational improvements that directly impact customer satisfaction and project outcomes

Finance

Financial Leadership and Oversight
  • Provide strategic oversight of all financial operations - ensuring accuracy while moving at startup speed
  • Oversee financial reporting and planning that supports rapid growth and international expansion
  • Analyze our unit economics and SaaS metrics to understand what's working and what needs attention
  • Direct cash flow management and forecasting to fuel our ambitious plans
  • Oversee billing operations that work seamlessly for customers and internal teams
  • Oversee equity administration and board reporting requirements
  • Lead and support capital raising initiatives with clear, compelling story and financial narratives
Commercial
  • Provide financial insights that help us price deals right and win the customers we want to work with
  • Bridge the gap between our Commercial and Sales teams to ensure sound commercial decisions are made
  • Direct revenue management processes that scale as we grow
  • Manage commercial and legal frameworks to ensure we make it easy for our customers to buy from Timescapes while managing short and long-term risk to the business.
Risk Management and Compliance
  • Oversee our insurance program across all global operations - protecting our people, customers, and business
  • As our internal Privacy officer - ensure compliance with local and international regulations as well as Soc2 without slowing down innovation
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies that let us move fast while staying safe
  • Build internal controls and governance that support growth rather than hinder it
  • Lead business continuity planning so we're ready for whatever comes our way

Requirements

Essential Experience
  • Leadership Background: 8+ years scaling operations and finance functions in high-growth companies - ideally startups that have gone from "figuring it out" to "making it work at scale"
  • Strategic Thinking: Experience developing operational strategies that actually work in the real world, ideally with international expansion
  • Operational Expertise: Proven experience managing multi-regional operations, supply chains, and service delivery teams
  • Financial Depth: Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience in SaaS metrics, fundraising, and investor relations
  • Systems Proficiency: Expert-level with Xero, experience with modern SaaS financial systems
