Mō te tūnga | About the roleWe are seeking an experienced Learning Support Manager

  • Avionics to support and strengthen the Avionics Systems Trade learning solution within the RNZAF training environment.

This senior role is responsible for overseeing and supporting the development of Avionic Systems Mechanics throughout their On‑the‑Job Learning (OJL) programme, ensuring learners achieve all required learning outcomes in line with NZDF and RNZAF training frameworks.Working closely with training staff, employing units, and key stakeholders, you will operate with a high level of autonomy and provide expert guidance across learning support management, performance reporting, and training validation.

This role holds responsibility equivalent to a Senior Instructor and plays a critical part in maintaining training quality, learner welfare, and technical standards.Key responsibilities include:Managing and supporting Avionics trainees throughout their On‑the‑Job Learning programme.Coordinating training and workplace learning opportunities to meet syllabus requirements.Coaching, mentoring, and supporting learner development, welfare, and performance.Monitoring learner progress and contributing to performance and training reports.Acting as a subject matter expert to support continuous improvement of training systems.Applications may be reviewed upon receipt.

You will bring sound judgement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work confidently with learners, instructors, and operational stakeholders.This role requires someone who is organised, flexible, and comfortable managing complex learning pathways while upholding NZDF values, safety requirements, and training standards.

Experience within military or equivalent aviation organisations will be highly regarded.To be successful, you will have:Extensive experience as an RNZAF Avionics tradesperson or equivalent aviation background.Demonstrated experience in mentoring, coaching, and learner or personnel management.Strong understanding of aviation maintenance supervision and technical airworthiness.Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills.The ability to obtain and maintain the required NZDF security clearance.Ability to plan, schedule, and liaise effectively with trainees, instructors, employing units, and key stakeholders to ensure learning activities and workplace training are delivered as required.Able to work autonomously, plan and manage own workload, prioritise tasks, and organise daily activities to achieve learning and training outcomes.Nōu te rourou | What's in it for youYour skills and dedication deserve recognition, and NZDF delivers with competitive pay matched to your experience.
