Vinyl Record Store Supervisor
Location: George St, Palmerston North
Job Type: Permanent part time - 27.5 hours/week
Hours: Tuesday-Friday 1045am-415pm and Saturday 945am-315pm
NB: If we get candidates who would prefer half these hours then we will consider splitting the shifts. Most likely that would be 2 weekdays and every second Saturday.

This position is for our George St premise which has been open since October 2024. This is a satellite to our existing Whanganui store.
Position Overview:We are seeking a Retail Supervisor to join our Vinyl Room team and play a key role in continuing to establish our George St premise within the Palmerston North community. You will be reporting to the Regional Store Manager. The ideal candidate will be passionate about vinyl records and other physical media and be friendly and knowledgeable about music.
You will play a key role in ensuring our store is inviting and well-organised while assisting customers with their music needs and preferences. A crucial component of this role is relationship building with customers and the local music community.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service: Provide a warm, welcoming experience for every customer.
Engage with customers to understand their music tastes and offer personalised recommendations.Handle customer inquiries and requests.
Sales: Assist customers with the selection and purchase of vinyl, CDs, and merchandise.
Process transactions accurately and efficiently.
Stock Management: Input new vinyl into the system and print barcodes.
Note customer requests and relay them to management.Contribute to ordering a wide selection of new titles.
Store Presentation: Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the store.
Daily cleaning of all areas including displays, floors and staff areas.Ensure the store is tidy and shelves are well-stocked and presentable.
Update window displays regularly
Opening and Closing Procedures: Open up the store, ensuring the shop is ready for customers
Close the store, bring in signs, vacuum and tidy shelves.Follow cash up procedures accurately and lock up premises.
Social media updates: Create weekly content for our social media pages with images and videos from around the store
Answer daily messages and respond to comments
Preferred experience and qualitiesWorks tirelessly in store and behind the scenes to ensure the absolute best browsing experience for our customers.
Have a wide range of musical knowledge and appreciation.
Basic understanding of hi-fi equipment including turntable setup and operations.
Previous retail experience is preferred but not required.
Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with customers effectively.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and restocking items.
