Simply Indian Restaurant is seeking two full-time Chefs : -
Chef – Indian Cuisine -
Chef – Indian Sweets (Mithai Specialist)These roles are integral to delivering authentic Indian culinary experiences in a fast-paced, high-standard environment.
Key Responsibilities for Both Roles- Prepare and cook food items according to approved recipes and quality standards
- Plan menus and estimate food costs based on seasonal availability and demand
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff while demonstrating effective cooking techniques
- Monitor stock and ingredient usage to prevent spoilage and waste
- Maintain cleanliness in food preparation areas and comply with NZ food safety regulations
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment and storage systems efficiently
- Ensure sanitation, waste management, and temperature controls meet regulatory standards
- Adapt recipes to meet dietary requirements and customer preferences
- Collaborate with Head Chef/Manager on daily kitchen coordination
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a high-volume restaurant OR a Level 4 qualification in cookery, hospitality, or a related field
- Strong cookery expertise in either Indian mains or traditional Indian sweets
- Excellent hygiene practices and food safety knowledge
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and follow structured systems
- Team-oriented with strong communication and reliability
- Must be available to work weekends and evenings
- Two permanent full-time roles (minimum 30 hours/week each)
- Pay rate: $25.00–$30.00/hour, based on experience
