Pastry cook

We are currently looking to fill a permanent full-time Pastry cook position in our busy ethnic Turkish Bakehouse and Café in Henderson, Auckland.

We offer $27-30 per hour depending on experience.

You will be expected to work a minimum of 35 hours per week over 5 days. Since the bakery is open 24/7, you will be on a rotating roster. We require the candidate to be available to work any time of the day, any day of the week.

• Prepare and bake traditional woodfired Turkish bread and pizza
• Make traditional Turkish pastry such as Baklava, Borek and Gozleme
• Prepare syrup for ethnic Turkish desserts
• Operate a bread cutting machine and divider
• Prepare baking equipment for use
• Prepare dough to make woodfired Turkish bread, Turkish pizza and Turkish pastry
• Prepare Turkish pastry fillings
• Clean food preparation area

• We require the ideal candidate to have at least 1 year of relevant work experience.
• It is advantageous if the candidate has knowledge of Turkish cuisine and knows how to prepare and bake ethnic Turkish pastry, bread and woodfired pizza.
• Can maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in a clean, tidy, safe and hazard fee environment
• Have excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work in a high temperature environment
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced bakery
• Remains calm under pressure and works well within a team environment
