As a Consultant Adult Community Psychiatrist, you will:

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for adults with moderate to severe mental health conditions.
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to support recovery-focused care.
  • Provide clinical leadership and contribute to service development initiatives.
  • Support supervision and teaching of junior medical staff and contribute to continuing professional development within the team.
  • Maintaining high standards of clinical service, risk management, and quality improvement.

About the Team/Service/ LocationThe Adult Community Mental Health Team provides specialist secondary mental health care to adults from the age of 18 across the Marlborough region. We are committed to delivering recovery-focused, person-centred care that supports whaiora and their whanau within the community.

Our service works collaboratively with primary care, NGO partners, inpatient services, addiction services, and cultural support providers to ensure integrated and equitable mental health care.

Our Multidisciplinary Team includes Medical Officers, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Registered Nurses and Social Workers, and employment specialists, committed to early intervention, holistic care, and continuous service improvement to achieve the best possible outcomes for the community.

About you

The ideal applicant will:

  • Bring their psychiatric skills and experience to an acute secondary care hospital and contribute to how healthcare is delivered in Blenheim.
  • Hold Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent.
  • Be eligible for an Annual Practising Certificate and vocational registration of Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
  • Have experience in consult-liaison psychiatry (preferred but not essential).
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuing medical education and professional development.
