Ko wai matou – Who are we?Te Kawerau a Maki are a West Auckland based iwi with shared interests across the northern half of the region. We are the northernmost iwi of the Tainui waka.
Te Kawerau Iwi Tiaki Trust is the mandated organisation responsible for delivering social, cultural, environmental and economic wellbeing outcomes for the iwi.
As one of the oldest iwi of the region, Te Kawerau a Maki hold deep whakapapa, cultural identity and ancestral connection to the ngahere, awa, and coastal landscapes of the west. Our mahi is grounded in our whakapapa and guided by the values of manaakitanga, kotahitanga, kaitiakitanga and rangatiratanga.The Trust supports whanau, protects our taonga, strengthens our cultural identity, and advances the long-term aspirations of our iwi.
About the role:We are seeking a motivated, organised and reliable person to support the Trust’s day-to-day operations. This position is essential to ensuring the smooth functioning of our office and providing high-quality administrative support across the Trust.
Our office is based in Henderson, with the bus and train station just steps away, offering an easy, accessible and commuter-friendly location.
The role includes:- Managing the Trust’s administrative email and general enquiries
- Supporting key office functions, systems and processes
- Assisting with invoicing and basic financial administration
- Providing coordination and logistics support across projects and teams
- Ensuring the office environment is welcoming, organised, and aligned with our tikanga
- Contributing to a positive, collaborative, and culturally grounded working environment
- Is highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks
- Communicates clearly and professionally
- Has strong administrative or office support experience
- Is confident with email and digital tools
- Works well independently and as part of a team
