Graphic Designer, Full time - Exhibition DesignAre you a talented Graphic Designer in the swing of your design career and passionate about making a difference for Aotearoa New Zealand's communities?OpportunityThis is a great opportunity to be part of a Te tiriti led, cross-disciplinary museum, where you can practice exhibition design, work alongside experts in various fields, and also share your own fresh perspectives, especially in relation to reaching our primary audiences.Reporting to the Design Team Leader, this position sits in the Experience Design and Content Team, within Te Papa's Audience and Insight Directorate.EmphasisWe're looking for someone passionate about Exhibition design.
You'll be keen to explore and expand your practice alongside our Design Team, and to mix with incredible storytellers and researchers in the museum sector.RoleThe role will involve a range of activities, from business-as-usual tasks like large introduction graphics, laying out exhibition labels, and updating wayfinding signage, to supporting the design of iwi/community-based exhibitions, to contributing to our collaborative mahi more generally.You'll be working with both Spatial and graphic designers, alongside the wider creative team and subject experts, you'll:provide graphic-design services, including advice, design, and production for exhibitions, exhibition-related products, and other in-house projectsparticipate in all aspects of the graphic-design process to meet project deadlines: creative concept; design, illustration, and typesetting; and production and deliveryuphold the Te Papa brand, and our design standards.Aside from bringing your design talent, you'll also be:committed to biculturalism, sustainability and universal design principlespositive, collaborative, and efficient, with an ability to prioritise your work tasks effectivelyconfident in communicating your ideasflexible and resilient in uncertain times, with a can-do attitude and focus on solutions over barriers.This is permanent fulltime position. The starting salary for this position will be between $67,669 - $80,357 with opportunity for progression through the band.
