Fitter Turner
Napier Engineering & Contracting (NEC) is growing and as part this we require an experienced Fitter Turner for our busy operation. The role is based out of our workshop in Pandora, Napier. The work with NEC is varied – we manufacture and service our own range of NIVEN branded meat processing equipment, service general equipment for many of the major companies in Hawkes Bay, provide services to the marine sector, and undertake site based project works.

To apply you will need to have:- A POSITIVE, CAN-DO ATTITUDE
- Self-motivated, efficient, confident, take pride in your work, a hard worker, and continually striving to improve both yourself and others. We work on the principle of respect gets respect.
- A Trade Qualification in Fitting/Turning (or similar) & minimum 10 years experience (we are looking for someone who can go to a job site on their own, logically think through problems and provide solutions).
- You must be confident and efficient in both fitting and turning. Due to our varied work you will not work solely in one area or the other. For example you should be well versed in what inserts should be used for different materials, how to calculate speeds and feeds, acceptable runouts, shrink fits, how to work hydraulic pullers, how to set bearing float, etc)
- A high performer - if you can deliver we will pay you well
- Able to read shop drawings, and machine or fit items per the details (without requiring supervisor input)
- Able to work on local sites (servicing and project works), with occasional away trips.
- Be able to speak and understand English (to a level you can understand instructions and converse with other staff without misunderstanding)
- Must be able to represent yourself and the company in good standing on client sites
- If you have basic welding skills this is a bonus (but not required)
- Overtime rates (1.5x) paid after 44 hours. Regular overtime is available.
- NZ full license (or similar - must be legally able to drive company vehicles)
