About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga The Principal Advisor, Investment Management leads the development, consolidation and use of the Strategic Financial Plan.

This is to advise the CFO, business groups, the Ministry's Leadership Team and the Treasury regarding the financial outlook of each of the Ministry's appropriations and planned investment/support related planning and prioritisation to ensure a sustainable long
  • term financial roadmap supporting the Ministry's achievement of its strategic objectives.

The Principal Advisor will also partner with the Strategy and Planning team, group planning functions and Finance Managers to build and manage a Long-Term Investment Plan that combines the strategic plans of each of the business groups within the Ministry.

We are looking for people who are focused on process improvement and are keen to move towards providing a service beyond the purely financial.

About you | Mōhou ake We're looking for a Principal Adviser with excellent communication (both oral and written), stakeholder engagement and solid understanding of the importance of financial strategy who can provide effective financial support and sound advice to achieve the Ministry's long-term goals; has a good understanding of inputs and drivers that can help investment decision making.

To be successful in this role you will have a practical and positive attitude, a keen interest in understanding the little details that make the big picture achievable and the ability to build effective relationships and credibility with customers at all levels across the Ministry, team members and colleagues in Finance.

You will also offer: Tertiary Qualification in Finance, Commerce or Business, and can demonstrate experience with building financial models and insights from strategic plans.
Solid experience in public sector financial management, managing multiple appropriations and Treasury engagement/communications Effective communication/Stakeholder engagement
  • Can effectively influence and provide specialist advice to senior leadership Experience undertaking financial modelling and in-depth or complex financial analysis/scenario analysis The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
