The main responsibilities include leading and supporting the strategic development of the Kaupapa Māori Supervision team, within the Tumu Herenga DCE Māori business group , as well as cultivating positive relationships with Departmental staff, and other important stakeholders.
This is a permanent, full- time position.Ngā kawenga | About the roleThe Senior Adviser Kaupapa Māori Supervisor is responsible for the delivery of Kaupapa Māori Supervision to programme facilitators and psychologists.
The position holder will also provide Kaupapa Māori advice to Ara Poutama Aotearoa to ensure the delivery of high-quality Māori centred practice to elevate Te Ao Māori methodologies and worldviews for rehabilitation design and delivery; and for leading improvement in Kaupapa Māori Supervision.The key responsibilities of this role include working closely with other managers to provide support for Kaupapa Māori supervision, ensuring that the Kaupapa Māori elements of programs are effectively implemented, advising the Psychology and Programmes teams on Te Ao Māori methodologies, guiding program design and practice to achieve positive outcomes for Māori, undergoing training in Te Ara Tauwhaiti (Kaupapa Māori cultural supervision framework) and engaging in Kaupapa Māori supervision, co-facilitating training programs, proficiently navigating Kaupapa Māori models and frameworks, supporting special projects related to Kaupapa Māori Practice development, and completing administrative tasks such as report writing within agreed timeframes.He kōrero mōu | About youIn the Senier Adviser Kaupapa Māori Supervisor role, you will build and nurture strong relationships, demonstrating innovation, critical thinking, and leadership abilities to develop and deliver effective human-centered solutions.
You will utilise your extensive experience or training in program facilitation, Māori cultural supervision, counselling, social work, or a related social service field, maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion.
Your solid understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (Treaty of Waitangi) and its application to Kaupapa Māori Practice within Te Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Department of Corrections) will be essential.Leveraging your deep knowledge of Māori issues, Te Ao Māori (Māori worldview), mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge systems), and Tikanga Māori (Māori customs and protocols), you will confidently provide Kaupapa Māori supervision.
Demonstrating proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, you will showcase excellent computer skills.
Your strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with excellent interpersonal, communication, organisational, and relationship management skills, will make you an outstanding fit for this role.Utu ā-tau | SalaryThe full salary range is $101,162
