We are seeking a passionate pastry chef to join the team and help us deliver our awesome food. This is a great position for a career chef looking to broaden skills by working in a multi-faceted venue with offerings extending from normal restaurant operations to a wide range of events.Our senior chefs are internationally recognised for their cuisine and this would be a rare opportunity to work with and learn from the best. Pay rates will depend on your experience and skill-set.
Our ideal applicant will have experience working in a busy commercial kitchen environment serving European/continental cuisine, be great at working in a team, have a passion for food and superb attention to detail. Applicants must be flexible with work schedule as this role requires weekdays and weekend work.You may also be able to be rostered for work during the day or in the evenings depending on the kitchen's needs. Experience working with both savoury dishes and pastry would be beneficial, with pastries being a priority to us.
Tasks may include:
- cleaning kitchens, food preparation areas and sculleries
- cooking consistently at a high level as directed by the Executive Chef
- cooking and preparing for each service and performing all duties assigned to them
- making sure their station and its environment (kitchen and store rooms) is spotlessly clean and hygiene is kept up at all times
- assembling and preparing ingredients for cooking, and preparing salads, savouries and desserts
- packing food and beverage trays for serving.
- planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
- monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
- discussing food preparation issues with Executive Chef, Sous Chef and/or kitchen and waiting staff
- demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
- explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
- freezing and preserving food.
We have very experienced and positive staff that enjoy the buzz of being busy in the kitchen while maintaining good working relationships with clients and fellow workmates.
