Role:
This role is pivotal in supporting the successful delivery of civil construction projects through the preparation of accurate, competitive, and strategically aligned cost estimates and tender submissions. As an Estimator, you will interpret complex engineering documentation, lead quantity take-offs, and develop comprehensive pricing for labour, materials, plant, and subcontractors across a range of civil works including roading, drainage, and infrastructure development.Working closely with Contract Managers, engineers, and business development teams, you'll contribute to both price and non-price elements of bids, ensuring submissions reflect both project scope and company capability.
With a strong commercial acumen, you'll also support post-tender negotiations, variation pricing, and ongoing cost accuracy benchmarking. Success in this role requires advanced analytical skills, proficiency in estimating tools, and a solid grasp of New Zealand construction standards, combined with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
What we are looking for:
- 3-5 years' experience in civil construction estimating or quantity surveying, ideally across roading, drainage, and infrastructure.
- Strong technical knowledge of NZ construction standards (e.g., NZS suite), contracts, and market rates.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Benchmark, Excel) and construction programming tools like MS Project.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret drawings, specs, and technical documentation.
- Clear communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with engineers, contract managers, and procurement teams.
