Seafood assistant

We are looking for a supermarket seafood assistant for our busy supermarket
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service: Greeting customers, answering questions about different seafood types, providing cooking recommendations, and fulfilling specific orders (e.g., weighing and packaging).
- Seafood Preparation.
- Merchandising & Display: Setting up attractive ice displays, restocking fresh and frozen counters, and ensuring all products are correctly labelled with prices and "use-by" dates.
- Hygiene & Food Safety: Strictly following Food Safety and Health & Safety programs, which includes regular cleaning of workstations, display cases, and processing equipment to prevent cross-contamination.
- Inventory Management: Rotating stock to ensure freshness (FEFO - first expired, first out), monitoring stock levels, and assisting with stocktakes.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for long shifts, lift boxes (often up to 15–20kg).
- Product Knowledge: Understanding different fish species, seasonal availability, and various cooking methods.
- Reliability: Punctuality is critical to ensure a good handover and to prepare the counter.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with a diverse range of customers and working effectively within a team.
- No formal education is usually required, as most training is provided on the job.
Shifts will mainly cover early afternoon and evening with at least one day on the weekend.
