We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Client Security Operations Centre (SOC) – Team Leader to join our Hamilton branch. This critical role is responsible for leading a high-performing team within a 24/7 operations centre, delivering real-time monitoring and rapid response services on behalf of a key national client.
About the Role
As the SOC Team Leader, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the Security Operations Centre. You’ll be responsible for team leadership, rostering, compliance, performance coaching, and daily coordination of operational security tasks.You’ll also act as a primary point of contact for client stakeholders and internal teams alike, ensuring that all services are delivered with professionalism, reliability, and responsiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day operations within the operation centre, ensuring full roster coverage and consistent service delivery.Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members, ensuring readiness before solo deployment.
Lead quality assurance efforts, including regular performance audits and follow-up training as needed.
Develop, manage, and optimise team rosters to maintain 24/7 operational coverage.
Serve as the key liaison between the SOC team, FIRST Security management, and the client’s key personnel.
Coordinate the allocation of resources for both routine operations and urgent, ad hoc assignments.
Ensure all security systems and procedures are live, effective, and accurately documented.
Contribute to policy and procedural development and ensure ongoing compliance.
Support continuous improvement of surveillance and alarm response operations.
Troubleshoot high-level alarm issues and minimise technical system outages through contractor liaison.
Contribute to reporting and data quality across all incidents, threats, and operational events.
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll bring a strong foundation in operational security leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to guide and grow a team in a fast-paced environment.
You will have: A current NZ Certificate of Approval (COA), or eligibility to obtain one.
Previous experience in security operations, preferably within a command or control centre.Proven leadership capability – able to manage people, rosters, and performance with confidence.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and initiative.
Good working knowledge of security systems and surveillance equipment.
The ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, especially in emergency situations.
