What you will be doing

As a Safety, Risk and Compliance Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring all safety, risk and compliance activities meet CAR 139, Work Safe NZ legislation, Place of First Arrival (POFA) and BWOF requirements and obligations on behalf of Auckland Airport.

This role will expose you to a wide range of safety and compliance risk management initiatives, including fire safety, security, biosecurity and other regulatory compliance.

The highly engaged and passionate Risk, Compliance and Assurance Team here at Auckland Airport is looking for a Safety, Risk and Compliance Coordinator with generalist experience, who can collaborate and communicate effectively across functional lines with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and to contribute to the Airport’s safety and compliance initiatives.

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Ensure all incidents and near misses are investigated, corrected and closed out appropriately on risk manager
  • Manage the trial fire evacuation programme, including designing the trial schedule, coordinating the trials, identifying and managing any corrective actions arising out of the trials
  • Coordinate and conduct regulatory audit activities, checks and education/awareness with regards to safety, risk and compliance
  • Participate in Auckland Airport Compliance Assurance Programmes, e.g. producing compliance activities and trends reporting
  • Contribute to the reviewing and auditing of relevant manuals including for example Airport Workers Rules, Biosecurity Manuals
  • Contribute to the wider business risk, knowledge management and assurance projects as required

To ensure your success in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in a safety, compliance, or regulatory role within an airport or similar high-regulatory environment is highly desirable
  • Generalist-level knowledge of how a framework works or experience working with multiple workstreams
  • A willingness and aptitude to learn what you don’t already know
  • Clear and concise communication skills with the ability to adapt to a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with stakeholders from all walks of life
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, including the ability to juggle conflicting priorities and deliver high quality outcomes in a busy, constantly changing environment.
  • Sound business writing and verbal communication skills including well-developed presentation skills, with a bias to transparency and collaboration.
  • Sound knowledge of software suites and systems.
  • Ability or interest to invest in data analytics.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess compliance issues and identify effective solutions.
