As the Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions and supporting month-end and year-end financial processes. Your attention to detail and ability to work independently will be key in helping the team maintain accurate financial records and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable- Manage client information in Xero and ensure integration with our CRM (Vault)
- Prepare client invoices and statements
- Conduct credit checks for new clients and communicate any risks to Sales Managers
- Follow up on overdue payments and escalate any problematic accounts to management
- Manage daily accounting transactions and maintain accurate records
- Process monthly journals by the 10th working day each month
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Communicate professionally with clients and internal stakeholders
- Prepare and lodge monthly or quarterly tax returns
- Keep online filing systems organised and up-to-date
- Assist with audits and perform other ad hoc financial tasks as needed
- Maintain accuracy when using financial and CRM platforms including Xero, Excel, and Vault
- Extract and reconcile sales and customer data for financial reporting
- Ensure revenue reconciliation between Xero and Vault for accurate invoicing
About You
You will be a proactive and organised individual with a strong foundation in accounting and a keen eye for detail. You bring solid communication skills, enjoy problem-solving, and can work effectively both independently and within a team.
Required Skills & Experience:- Previous experience in a similar accounting role
- Proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Excel
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Relevant accounting qualifications (or working towards them)
