Retail Assistant
About the role
Dollar Dealers is looking for a Retail Assistant to work in our new Taurangastore. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, learning about a wide range of products and being trusted to make decisions on the shop floor.
Working in a pawnshop environment means no two days are the same. You’ll interact with customers buying, selling and borrowing against items such as electronics, tools, jewellery and more.
This is apart-time role working a minimum of 3 days (8:30am to 5:30pm) every week.The ability to work at least 1 weekend day is required also.
What you'll be doing
As a Retail Assistant (Sales and Lending Associate), you will play an important part in keeping the store running smoothly while delivering excellent customer service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting customers with sales, lending and buying transactions
- Assessing items for purchase or loan (full training provided)
- Merchandising and maintaining an organised retail floor
- Processing sales and handling cash transactions accurately
- Managing stock, displays and store presentation
- Supporting store security and daily store procedures
- Working as part of a small team to achieve store targets
This role suits someone who enjoys hands-on retail, problem solving and building genuine relationships with customers.
What we're looking for
We’re looking for someone who is reliable, confident with customers and comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment.
You will ideally have:
- Previous retail or customer service experience
- Confidence handling cash and transactions
- Clear communication and a friendly, professional manner
- Good attention to detail and sound judgement
- The ability to work a minimum of 3 days per week, including at least 1 weekend day.
- A positive attitude and team-focused mindset
- Physical ability to handle stock
Pawn broking experience is not required. Full training will be provided.
