Diesel Motor Mechanic – Full Time (Assignment Based)

Position Summary

Skilled Diesel Mechanic responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles, heavy machinery, and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. Work is completed in workshop and field environments, in line with manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and workplace health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, repair, service, and maintain diesel engines and related systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Inspect and overhaul engines, transmissions, braking systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and electrical components.
  • Use computerized diagnostic tools and specialized software to identify faults.
  • Carry out welding, fabrication, and minor machining as required.
  • Complete emission and safety inspections to meet regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records, timesheets, and digital maintenance reports.
  • Manage parts, tools, and workshop equipment effectively.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors, clients, and team members.
  • Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental procedures, including PPE use and incident reporting.

  • Computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Laptop-based diagnostic software
  • Electronic engine diagnostic tools
  • Digital service record platforms
  • Timekeeping and job tracking systems
Skills & Competencies
  • Trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics or minimum 3 years relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems
  • Advanced fault-finding and diagnostic ability
  • High attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Strong understanding of health and safety compliance
  • Valid drivers license
