Assistant Restaurant Manager
Plateau is an established busy Restaurant and Bar operating in the heart of Taupo. Established in 2004, we are a staple in the local food landscape. We have a reputation for amazing food, drinks and service and are currently listed as a Cuisine Top Destination 2024/25.
We are looking for an experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our management team.
The position is full time, with a minimum of 35 hours required.
The pay rate is a minimum of $26 per hour to $30 maximum per hour.
The successful candidate will have the following:
- At least 3 years experience in A la Carte service
- At least 3 years experience at management or supervisor level
- Experience managing, leading and developing a team
- Experience with large bookings and events
Assist in running the day to day operations of the restaurant, including overseeing personnel, ensuring that the facilities are properly maintained. The Assistant Restaurant Manager will also be required to ensure customer satisfaction and oversee the upkeep of administrative and financial records.

Schedule Rostering needs of the business
Schedule purchasing and inventory control
Supervise staff
Enforce adherence to regulations and quality standards
Review and prepare reports for Senior Management

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS
Qualifications:Current Duty Manager Certification or ability to obtain one (onsite training, guidance and cover of costs will be provided)
Experience: Relevant practical experience in a Supervisory position with the ability to display required competencies
Knowledge: Working knowledge of Hospitality operations
Skills & competencies:Customer service focused: committed to providing exceptional customer service across all channels – written, phone and face to face.
Communication: the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience.
Attention to detail: excellent attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally.

While this is a management role, the position is very hands on and working on the floor with the team is a part of a normal shift.
A basic knowledge of fusion food would be advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Plateau is located at 64 Tuwharetoa St, Taupo and is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11:30am until 9pm.
