Maintenance Engineer / Mechanic
With the four orchards, Blueberry County is New Zealand’s largest blueberry grower. It is still a family business and grows, harvests, processes, packs and distributes fresh and frozen blueberries across New Zealand and selected export markets.
Our head office and main production facilities are located just 20 minutes south of Hamilton, and the blueberries are grown, harvested, frozen and packed all on site. We also run Pick Your Own (PYO) and café operations through the summer across all our existing orchards.
We are seeking someone with a background in engineering or mechanical work. As part of the maintenance team, based from the Ohaupo site, you will be responsible for general mechanical and engineering maintenance as well as fabrication work around our 4 Orchards, but the majority of the work is at our main Orchard in Ohaupo.This role would suit someone with a drive for continuous improvement and an eye for problem solving.
Mechanical knowledge is required for working on agricultural machinery
The ability to travel from time to time to complete maintenance and repairs on any of our orchards if required
Flexibility during the peak season (October to May) is essential as it may involve longer hours, weekend or shift work
Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships.
