We are seeking dedicated, detail-oriented Caretakers to maintain cemetery grounds and ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment across one North and one West location

Details of the role:

The Caretaker plays a vital role in the daily operations of our property, ensuring that the building and grounds are well-maintained, clean, and ready for services, events, and gatherings. This role involves a mix of custodial duties, light maintenance, and event setup/takedown.

Key details:

• Monday to Saturday: 7.30am – 4.00pm
• Starting March 2026 until May 2026
• West Auckland & North Shore locations
• Full clean NZ drivers license required

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting the NorthWest Sexton team with burials, grounds maintenance, equipment cleaning, and additional tasks as requested by the Operations Lead
• Perform routine cleaning, trash removal, and minor repairs to keep the surrounding property and surrounding in excellent condition.
• Set up and take down tables, chairs, and other equipment for services, meetings, and special events.
• Ensure the building is properly opened and secured before and after events.
• Monitor for safety hazards and report necessary repairs.
• Maintain outdoor areas, including walkways, lawns, and gardens, and assist with seasonal tasks like snow removal or leaf clearing.
• Work closely with staff, volunteers, and vendors to support the smooth operation of the property.

What we're looking for:

• Previous experience in maintenance, custodial work, or a similar role preferred
• Basic handyman skills for minor repairs
• Must be able to safely lift equipment 15kgs+
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently
• Required to work in all weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to keeping the property clean and welcoming.
• A respect for the mission and values of the property
• Must have steel caps boots and appropriate wet weather gear
• Preferable navy blue or black suitable clothing or high vis top
