Age Care Central is a company that manages Maryann Resthome, Hospital and Dementia Unit
which is a 66 bed facility. Maryann Resthome is a multi-cultural employer, with a friendly welcoming

We are located in Stratford, Taranaki, in the North Island, 30 mins drive from New Plymouth.
The Stratford area has stunning scenery and the majestic Mount Taranaki – making it a great
place to work, live and raise a family. Stratford offers affordable housing, and many great
amenities - including cafes and schools.
We are looking for a permanent caregiver to cover all shifts as needed. This would include
morning, afternoon, weekend and night shifts. This would be a minimum of 31hrs per week based on a

six week rotating roster within the company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work collaboratively to support the health and wellbeing of a person with complex needs
  • Implement person-centred approaches to support a person with complex needs
  • Recognise and respond to signs of vulnerability and abuse
  • Demonstrate ethical and professional behaviour.
  • Provide person-centred care under the direction and delegation of a health professional.
  • Recognise and respond to change.
  • Provide person-centred support to maximise independence.
  • Work within the responsibilities and boundaries of their role
  • Perform entry-level person-centred tasks and functions in a health or wellbeing setting
  • Recognise and report risks and/or changes in a person and/or family/whanau
  • Communicate to support a person’s health or wellbeing
  • To comply with the relevant policies related to punctuality, correct maintenance of time
records, sick call procedure, professional appearance and conduct, smoking policy and all
House Rules.
  • To support and uphold all policies, mission statement and philosophies at all times
  • To safely, efficiently and effectively deliver care by prioritising attendance to Resident's needs
and delivering the best care possible according to duty schedules, and the Nursing Procedure
Manual. This includes requesting assistance in difficult care delivery situations.
  • Ensure that all routine cares are delivered as per resident’s care plans including, showering,
dressing, mobilising, grooming, nutritional assistance.
  • As required the HCA might have to do Laundry, and perform cleaning and kitchen duties in a
helpful manner and maintaining good infection control principles.
  • There is an obligation of all staff to observe privacy, dignity, comfort & confidentiality of
residents.
  • Keep confidential all facility’s business
  • To be an effective Team worker with consideration for other employees. It is required that
record of reports are current, informative rather than merely gratuitous. The HCA is to be
flexible, show initiative and be tolerant and understanding when duties are busy. To be readily
adaptable to change.
  • To be a good communicator with Residents and staff. Observe and report any changes in the
resident’s condition and vital signs.
This includes appropriate upward reporting, sharing relevant information with colleagues and
maintaining a good working relationship with management.
  • To follow sound basic hygiene and infection control principles particularly in relation to hand
washing.
  • To develop professionally. This includes attendance of annual Education and training
sessions as per our schedule and legislative requirements, one of which must be FIRE AND
HEALTH AND SAFETY.
  • To perform other duties as may be reasonably required to maximise the Resident's safety and
sense of wellbeing.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety Policies. Report any hazards and incidents and accidents.
Cooperate with any investigations. Attend relevant training.
  • Assist with meal serving following sound infection control principles. Assist resident’s who

need help. Observe resident’s intake and report any discrepancies.

Wage rate would be dependent on qualifications

Level 0 $24.20
Level 2 $25.65
Level 3 $27.89
Level 4 a $29.01
Level 4 b $30.13

Plus an additional allowance for weekend and night shift.

Ongoing Professional Development is offered as part of the role.
