M & B Group LTD is looking for a Head Sous Chef for Golden Sweet Shop, located in Papamoa. We are an Indian Style Bakery & 16 Seater Café and we make a range of Indian inspired candy, deserts, cakes and tandoor bread. We also serve delicious Indian cuisine to dine in café customers, take away customers, and we provide catering to bigger events.

We are looking for 1 Demi Chef De Partie to support the kitchen operation. You will be an all rounder and be happy to work in designated sections and tasks as required by the Head Sous Chef.

Preference will be given to New Zealand Citizens or have Permanent Work Rights in New Zealand.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties:
  • Support the kitchen operations and lead in absence of Head Sous Chef
  • Support lower level kitchen team in absence of Head Sous Chef
  • Undertake daily food preparation of bakery desserts & breads, café and catering dishes (Indian cuisine including curry)
  • Mix, prepare, bake tandoor breads & cakes/ desserts/candy items for sale
  • Prepare and cook dishes for takeaway and dine-in customers
  • Prepare and cook dishes for catering of large groups
  • Work in specific kitchen section if required by Head Sous Chef
  • Maintain high level of food safety, hygiene and quality in accordance with regulations
  • Ensure all kitchen spaces and equipment clean and tidy during and at the end of operations.
Successful Candidates Must Have:
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a kitchen environment.
  • We ask for someone with consistent work history and good references to prove you are fit our small team.
  • Attention to detail and proven ability to deliver an excellent Indian cuisine, baking and confectionary as expected by our customers.
  • Experience or passion for cooking with Indian & Southeast Asian flavours preferred
  • Proven hygienic practices
  • Organisation and time management skills.
  • Experience training or guiding lower-level kitchen staff.
  • Proven communication skills and teamwork skills.
  • Positive approach and openness to take direction and feedback from Head Sous Chef, to ensure food is always of the highest standard.
  • Full New Zealand Driver’s License

  • A minimum of 30 hours per week is guaranteed up to a maximum of 45 hours per week.
  • A roster that includes weekend work Saturday and Sunday, public holiday work but with 2 consecutive days off per week
  • Pay $29 to $30 per hour
  • Weekly pay on a Friday
