Health and Safety Business Partner

Opportunity for Health & Safety Business Partner to join a leading engineering consultancy- regular travel, covering Auckland, Waikato and BOP sites.

You will be responsible for providing timely and trusted advice to leaders and teams to drive a proactive approach to Health, Safety and Wellbeing. You will be part of a national team working across compliance and client specific requirements.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Trusted advisor to business leaders and teams on health, safety and wellbeing, ensuring HSW requirements are built into project planning and delivery
  • Develop and maintain HSW systems, procedures and risk assessments
  • Lead incident investigations, manage corrective actions and support the incident management process
  • Mentor and support Health & Safety Representatives, Location Representatives and Wellbeing Champions
  • Oversee contractor and supplier HSW pre-qualification and performance monitoring
  • Support injury management and return-to-work programmes in collaboration with the Occupational Health and Wellbeing team
  • Conduct audits and inspections, identifying and supporting improvement opportunities
  • Monitor legislative changes and support WorkSafe liaison when required

Skills and Experience Required:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role, ideally in construction, environmental or engineering sectors
  • Strong knowledge of NZ HSW legislation, Codes of Practice, and ISO45001
  • ICAM investigation and audit training and experience
  • Competent in risk assessment, including Bowtie methodology
  • Experience with Just Culture or Human and Organisational Performance (HOP)
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of an organisation
  • Excellent communication, relationship building presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • A mindset focused on education, empowerment and continuous improvement
  • Full NZ driver's licence
