This role includes workingwith people who have sustained an acute injury or recovering from planned surgery.

In this role you will work with patients to enableoptimum safety and function during this phase of their recovery.
You will work with clients from diverse social andcultural backgrounds and need to bring your holistic skills, enthusiasm andpassion to achieve the best outcome for your patients.
Your day will includeADL rehabilitation, and complex discharge planning including compensatoryequipment prescription.

This role requires you to undertake weekend (Saturday) work on occasion as based on patient flow and discharge plans.In this role, you will be responsible for:Undertaking Occupational Therapy assessments and developing and implementing treatment plans, considered within a holistic approachProviding education and resource, where appropriate, to the client and their family/whanau, as well as the wider teamPrioritising, organising and managing a case load while allocating time appropriatelyEngaging in service delivery reviews and associated quality improvement initiativesBurwood Hospital offers the opportunity to be part ofboth the ward team and the wider Occupational Therapy Department and take theopportunities to access professional development through, in-service trainingand clinical supervision.About YouWe are seeking an Occupational therapist to join the team who have the ability to assess, treat and rehabilitate people who have experienced a surgical procedure to becomeindependent and return to the community, life and roles.

Yourskills will include:Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, to develop positive interpersonal relationships, and work flexibly within the team, with a team player attitudeExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with a range of stakeholdersStrong clinical reasoning skills and use of evidence informed practiceEffective prioritisation skills and experience with complex discharge planningEnable NZ Equipment accreditation or willingness to obtainRegistration with the NZ Occupational Therapy Board and current Annual Practicing CertificateCompetency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthPreferably 2 years
  • post-qualification experienceAs local travel is required, a full driver
