As a receptionist you will be responsible for the day-to-day running (in the afternoons and weekends) of the hostel and an integral part of the team, to ensure an efficient, smooth running, happy and profitable operation.

As we are a small team, everyone cleans so there will be a mix of cleaning and reception shifts, and split shifts.

POSITION TASKS:
Represents our 4 star hostel to the guest throughout all stages of the guest's stay. Determinates a guest's reservation status and identifies how long the guest will stay, and from where/how they booked.
Helps guests complete registration form and then assigns rooms, accommodating special requests whenever possible.
Verifies the guest's method of payment and follows established credit-checking procedures. Places guest and room information in Abode.
Works closely with the housekeeping department, and coordinates requests for maintenance and repair work or informs the manager if not urgent. Helps maintains 4 star level of cleanliness of rooms and common areas at all times.

Must be sales-minded. Presents options and alternatives to guests and offers assistance in booking activities, buses and finding work. Knows the location and types of available rooms as well as the activities and services of the property. Performs daily cash-up on morning shifts

Deals with complaints effectively and finds solutions.

Organizes events, helps promote the hostel on social media.

Experience we are looking for -

At least one year's reception in accommodation setting, have experience in hostels, have knowledge of using Abode, Social media experience, Experience using online reservation software and working with online sale platforms such as Booking.com, hostel world. Be able to converse with other cultures.

Ideally
  • * Microsoft Office
  • Marketing experience including promotions, event planning and increasing business visibly.
  • leadership skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and exceed customer service experience.
  • Self-motivation,* initiative and great problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Attention to detail and great cleaning skills

Please do not apply if you cannot work Weekends, afternoons and rostered shifts split shifts. As we are a small team, we all work as a team and cleaning is definitely part of the job!

Start early June 2025, Pay $24

30 hours per week
