About the RoleIn this position, you will oversee pharmacy dispensary, procurement and supply services to both Waikato and rural hospitals, including line management of the pharmacy technician teams. A diverse, varied and action packed role, instrumental to the effective and efficient running of the pharmacy service.
A highly organised person, with clear communication and great relationship skills, you will provide a crucial link to hospital staff to the pharmacy dispensary. This role involves the provision ofLeadership and operational management of the dispensary, procurement and supply services.Responsibility for the smooth running of the dispensary.

This includes but not limited to management of the technicians, all duties associated with the operations and management of the dispensary namely, manufacturing, repacking, ordering, claiming, inventory control, liaison with purchasing and inventory management teams and pharmaceutical suppliers.Providing hands on dispensary service, when required and to main competency, around 10 -30% of role.Ensuring efficient supply and co-ordination of pharmaceutical stock within the Pharmacy Service and to Waikato and rural hospitals, clinics and department.Ensuring the provision of technician and pharmacy assistant services in accordance with agreed pharmacy department business plans and the requirements of the service customers.Providing back up to other team leaders and pharmacy services when required, in particular, to Pharmacy on Meade, the on-site community pharmacy service.

About the ServiceThe Te Whatu Ora Waikato Pharmacy Service provides essential pharmacy services to Waikato Hospital and rural hospitals, as well as tertiary advisory and support services to the Te Manawa Taki region.

About youSkills and experience youll need to be considered for the role:A current annual practising certificate (pharmacist) with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand.At least 5-8 years of post-registration pharmacy experience, with at least 3 -5 years in a senior hospital or community pharmacy setting, or equivalent.Ideally hold a post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy.Current New Zealand drivers license.Experience in staff management and professional support and developmentExperience in stock, change and financial managementGood knowledge of computer functions and IT skillsGood knowledge of PHARMAC rules and regulationsExperience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
