About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Physiotherapist to join our Medical Respiratory Team at Christchurch Hospital. This full'time, permanent role offers an exciting mix of acute inpatient and specialist outpatient respiratory care within a supportive and highly skilled multidisciplinary environment.

In this role, you'll contribute to high-quality physiotherapy care for patients with a wide range of respiratory conditions, supporting their journey through acute illness, recovery, and long-term management. This includes assessment, treatment planning, airway clearance techniques, patient education, and close collaboration within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver physiotherapy assessment and treatment for patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions
  • Provide care across an acute inpatient ward and outpatient respiratory clinic
  • Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, allied health, and community teams
  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement and service development activities
  • Supervise and mentor rotational physiotherapists and final year physiotherapy students
  • Participate in peer review and supervision structure

You will be required to contribute to the weekend and on-call rosters.

About the Team

This role is part of the Christchurch Hospital Physiotherapy team, with over 60 team members across a large range of specialities and more specifically sits within the cardiorespiratory and surgical cluster, a team of approximately 20 physiotherapists.

This supportive and development focused cluster strives to bring the best out of each other to deliver the best patient care.

About you

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the following:

  • 3+ years' clinical experience, including experience in the medical respiratory setting ' inpatients and/or outpatients
  • Acute hospital inpatient experience
  • New Zealand Registered physiotherapist with current APC
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in your role.
