The Role
We are looking for a dedicated Cultivation & Drilling Team Leader who can manage and mentor a small team while working hands-on with a range of machinery to deliver high-quality cultivation and drilling outcomes. The role involves coordinating operations, maintaining safety standards, and serving as the main point of contact for clients to ensure expectations are exceeded.
What you’ll be doing- Leading and managing a small team, ensuring all operators are well-trained, confident, and adhere to safety standards.
- Working hands-on with a range of cultivation and drilling machinery, including precision drills.
- Collaborating with the Operations Dispatch Manager to ensure timely and efficient job completion.
- Serving as the primary point of contact with clients while keeping them informed and ensuring their expectations are exceeded.
- Taking ownership of your team’s workflow, safety practices, equipment maintenance, and job close-out to support accurate and timely invoicing.
- Proven experience in cultivation and drilling, with at least 2 years of hands-on operation with various equipment.
- Strong understanding of agronomy and seedbed preparation, including pasture and forage crop planting requirements.
- Leadership experience—able to guide, support, and mentor your team while actively participating in operations.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills—capable of managing scheduling, client relationships, and documentation accurately.
- A full NZ Driver’s Licence (Class 1) and relevant machinery endorsements (R, T, W). A Class 5 licence would be advantageous.
