He angitutanga | The opportunity:Join our dedicated team as an Animal and Bylaw Services Officer, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the Masterton community. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality animal control and bylaw enforcement services, build strong relationships with residents, educate the public, and be part of a roster that responds to callouts to maintain community safety.

He korero mou | About you:- Experience in compliance, investigation, enforcement, veterinary nursing, animal welfare or related position within Local Government would be an advantage.
- Experience and confidence working with animals.
- Demonstrated experience delivering outcomes with a minimum of supervision.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships – internal and external.
- The ability to interpret and apply legislation and regulations relating to animal control and bylaws.
- The ability to draft concise letters, SOPs and reports.
- A resilient and assertive approach to conflict and challenging situations (non-confrontational)
- Well-developed negotiation and conflict de-escalation skills
- Well-developed computer skills including Microsoft Outlook and Word
- Ability to work collaboratively to ensure service delivery is achieved across the team.
- Able to work in all weather and climatic extremes, and a reasonable level of health and physical fitness.
- Full, clean New Zealand driving licence, can drive a manual vehicle.
- Conveys a professional and positive image, with a courteous and efficient manner.
- Attention to details and the able to effectively multi-task.
