To do this effectively we must position ourselves to elevate our monitoring and mentoring responsibilities and emphasise our role in holding other agencies to account for delivery of public services to, for and with Māori.We are looking for a Policy Analyst to join our Te Pou Taiao team, based in National office, Wellington.
Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunityOur Policy Puni leads across the public sector to understand and prioritise issues, needs and opportunities impacting on Māori development and wellbeing. The Puni consists of 9 teams focusing on specific Policy areas.
Te Pou Taiao team focuses on the environmental policy and sustainable development, ensuring the needs and aspirations of iwi, hapū and whānau Māori are central to these considerations. Reporting to the Policy Manager, and as part of a team of policy professionals you will Provide credible, evidence-based advice anchored in the context of iwi, hapu, whānau and Māori as it applies to cultural and intellectual property.
Conduct analysis of policy issues to understand the implications and identify potential solutions. Work collaboratively with peers at Te Puni Kōkiri and with other government agencies including the Ministry for the Environment, Te Tari Whakatau and Ministry for Primary Industries.
Contribute to robust team discussion, presenting your ideas and sharing knowledge. The likely appointment range is $76,022 to $84,468 per annum based on skills and experience. A curious, inquisitive mind, including a commitment to learning, asking questions and enjoys research and analysis. Good communication and teamwork skills. Are comfortable in an ao Māori environment and are comfortable in situations where tikanga is observed.
Some knowledge of te reo Māori, or as a minimum have a willingness to learn is ideal. Are confident to engage and kōrero with others and to work in a whanaungatanga/relationship driven way.
