Team Leader Assets and Performance

We're looking for a Team Leader to lead our committed and friendly Assets and Performance team. This full-time role is fixed term until 5th April 2027 to cover parental leave and is based in our central Wellington office.

**About the role:**

Infrastructure management is at the heart of what we do. In this role, you will lead improvements across our asset base by applying best-practice asset management principles and ensuring consistency in systems and processes. You will champion innovation and efficiency while maintaining standards.

As Team Leader, Assets and Performance, you will bring together leadership and engineering expertise to deliver strategic asset management planning for flood protection assets, including dams and other complex structures, while supporting the wider Delivery portfolio.

A key part of your role will be ensuring compliance with Dams Safety Regulations and applying these principles to critical infrastructure such as stopbanks. Beyond technical excellence, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and growing the team, building capability, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.

**Skills and experience required:**
  • Capability in te ao Maori aligned with Greater Wellington's Maori Capability Framework.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification such as BE, BSc, NZCE, REA, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong asset management expertise with the ability to apply systems thinking and strategic planning.
  • Familiarity with asset management systems and data-driven decision-making tools
  • Proven experience in project and programme delivery; experience managing dams as an owner is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety standards, including Dams Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to champion innovation and continuous improvement across systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and grow teams, build capability, and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture through change.
  • Skilled in change leadership and managing multidisciplinary teams effectively.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, including working with mana whenua and community partners.
  • Excellent communication and sound decision-making, including risk management in complex situations.

The remuneration for this position, inclusive of all benefits, is $132,174 to $198,262 with a midpoint of $165,219. Starting remuneration will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
