WHERE
Waipa Valley Pastoral is a recently purchased 900ha family-owned farm 30 minutes southeast of Te Kuiti, combining 375 ha of hill country, 430 ha of rolling finishing land, and pockets of native bush. The farm winters 2,000 Romney ewes, 120 Angus cows, and 1,200 dairy heifers, supported by strong infrastructure and well-planned fencing included a farm laneway for ease of stock access.With farm policies still being developed, this is an exciting chance to help shape its future alongside a supportive team, including a Farm Cadet.
WHAT
Waipa Valley Pastoral is seeking an experienced Stock Manager to lead the day-to-day care and management of all livestock across all stock classes. This hands-on role requires proven sheep and beef experience, excellent stockmanship, and a solid work history, along with 3-5 capable working dogs.
You will oversee the breeding and finishing stock and manage the dairy grazing and take responsibility for the Farm Cadet, who is enthusiastic and keen to learn. The Stock Manager reports to the Farm Manager, who is focusing on the strategic side but provides on-farm support as needed.This role will suit someone that is detail-focused, collaborative, and driven to achieve strong livestock performance.

WHO
Our client is looking for a Stock Manager who is reliable and focused, with a hands-on leadership style. The below will also key to success in this role:
- Have a good understanding of livestock management and stockmanship.
- A high level of animal health, good attention to detail with stock.
- Some previous staff management would be advantageous.
- Ability to formulate a feed budget and manage pasture quality.
- Manage a feed plan using fodder crops and supplementary feed as required.
- Be able to manage farm repairs and maintenance and general tasks such as water, fencing, weed control, vehicles and equipment.
- Be computer literate, previous experience with FarmIQ with good reporting and record keeping.
- Strong understanding of health and safety.
- Ability to planning and schedule tasks with forward organisation.
