Seeking Senior Occupational Therapists to join our team at Te Whetu Tawera- permanent, full-time positions working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking to join a small, dedicated team of therapists and be an important core member of the multidisciplinary team. Working alongside a range of people including kaiatawahi, consumer leaders, whanau/families, volunteers, health professionals and NGO staff this role is enriched by diverse perspectives coming together.

This is a challenging area of work requiring a proactive and enthusiastic person who has excellent interpersonal skills. The role also requires a commitment to teamwork, good organisational and time management skills.

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will:

Deliver high-quality, evidence-based Occupational Therapy interventions for Te Whetu Tawera (TWT) the 58-bed acute inpatient mental health.
Work closely with families, taking a whaanau-centered approach to therapy
Manage complex cases with advanced clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
Provide mentorship and clinical leadership within the team
Support service development and quality improvement initiatives
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care

Participate in ongoing professional development and research activities

Accreditations for wheeled mobility, specialised equipment and housing modifications. What We're Looking For:

Registered Occupational Therapist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
Minimum of 5 years' experience in paediatric Occupational Therapy or related settings
Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills for managing complex cases
Experience in clinical supervision, mentoring, and team leadership
High standard of communication skills with colleagues and whanau
Knowledge of best practices, service development, and interdisciplinary collaboration
Commitment to equity, innovation, and delivering high-quality healthcare

Full, clean drivers licence

Occupational Therapy is important and highly valued in this setting to facilitate Tangata Whaiora occupational performance and participation to prepare for community living. You will be able to use and develop your professional skills in assessment, goal setting and collaborative planning.

Occupational Therapists offer a range of individual and group interventions and fulfil a vital role in ensuring the Recovery Programme provides meaningful experiences that contribute to positive outcomes.
