Our inpatient mental health unit is seeking a Registered Nurse Practitioner with a scope in Mental Health to provide expert senior clinical nursing leadership in assessment, treatment and management of acute mental health presentations.

About the roleThis full-time Nurse Practitioner / Mātanga Tapuhi role will practice both independently and in collaboration with other health care professionals, whānau and tāngata whai i te ora to provide expert, timely assessment, treatment and management of adult acute mental health presentations within our inpatient setting.As a senior autonomous clinician, you will deliver advanced, personcentred, recoveryfocused care that supports equitable access and effective responses to acute mental health needs.

Working as part of the inpatient multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive clinical assessments, formulate diagnoses, and implement therapeutic interventionsincluding prescribing and nonpharmacological approachesto support complex care planning, acute stabilisation and safe transitions of care.You will hold a clinical caseload aligned to inpatient priorities, contributing directly to safe admission, transfer and discharge processes while ensuring continuity of care with community mental health services.

Alongside this, you will lead initiatives that embed evidencebased, traumainformed and culturally safe practice, championing quality improvement and supporting staff capability across the unit.This role also provides significant leadership opportunities: mentoring colleagues, contributing to service development, and partnering with clinical leaders to influence innovation in acute mental health care.
