Are you a trusted right hand to senior leaders — someone who sees around corners, builds strong relationships, and keeps things moving? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same? Are you looking to bring your organisational, communication and people skills to a role that's central to a high-performing leadership team?
We are looking for a full-time permanent Executive Assistant based in central Wellington. About the Ministry for Regulation: The Ministry for Regulation is a small government agency with a big job to do. We're focused on lifting quality across all regulatory systems and supporting agencies with regulatory responsibilities to align with good practice.
We want it to be easier for businesses to innovate, grow and comply, while still ensuring the benefits from regulation that we take for granted won't change. We are a small group of dedicated professionals, working in a 'can do' environment. About the role: We're looking for a highly capable Executive Assistant to support our Deputy Chief Executive, Organisational Enablement.
This is a pivotal role at the heart of a busy and engaged leadership team, covering a diverse portfolio including People and Operations, Digital and Insights, Engagement, Ministerial Services, Performance and Planning, Finance and Legal. You'll be more than a diary manager — you'll be a trusted partner, anticipating needs, managing relationships, and helping the DCE stay focused on what matters most.

You'll bring sound judgement, political nous, exceptional relationship skills and a calm, proactive approach to a dynamic, fast paced and people-centred environment. Responsibilities within the role: Proactively manage schedules, agendas, coordinate meetings, prioritise tasks, and escalate urgent issues as required Draft, prepare and compile a variety of documentation, often confidential, to support the DCE seamlessly Act as the key liaison between the DCE and key stakeholders, including internal teams, external partners, and government officials, to ensure smooth communication and facilitating the execution of high-priority initiatives Manage the flow of information on behalf of the DCE ensuring context and significance are understood, and information is handled appropriately and confidentially Build trust with key contacts to enable them to discuss sensitive issues and be assured that accurate information will be given to the DCE.

About you: You're proactive, organised, and always two steps ahead — anticipating needs before they arise. Politically astute and emotionally intelligent, you navigate complex environments with ease and build trust quickly. A natural communicator, you're clear, professional, and warm, with the ability to tailor your approach to diverse audiences.
You bring sound judgement, discretion, and a calm, diplomatic presence under pressure. Your exceptional organisational and multi-tasking skills allow you to manage complex schedules and competing priorities effortlessly. You're confident with Microsoft 365 and quick to learn new systems and tools, including finance platforms.
You're skilled in drafting and proofreading correspondence, reports, and presentations. A problem-solver at heart, you adapt under pressure and handle sensitive information with care. An understanding of the public service environment is a plus.
What we can offer you: You'll be joining a collaborative, talented and values-driven team that's excited about building something new — supported by a DCE who leads with empathy and trust and empowers others to do their best work. Flexible working arrangements are part of how we support our people to thrive.
