Role Summary
Practical, on-site Flooring Technician delivering installations, repairs, and finishes across client sites in Auckland. This is a field-facing role that combines hands-on tradeswork with customer interaction; on-the-job training provided for epoxy flooring and polished concrete techniques.
Key Responsibilities- Measure, prepare, and install timber, laminate, vinyl/LVT, carpet, engineered products, epoxy coatings, and polished concrete finishes.
- Prepare and profile substrates: levelling, sanding, moisture testing, priming, and cleaning.
- Mix and apply epoxy systems and support concrete polishing workflows under supervision while training on correct sequences and curing checks.
- Cut, fit, and finish around fixtures, skirtings, thresholds, stairs, and transitions to a high standard.
- Strip out old coverings, remove waste, and protect client property during works.
- Use and maintain hand and power tools safely; follow site instructions and report unusual site conditions.
- Complete pre-installation checks and handover inspections; document work via simple job forms or photos.
- Work alongside project managers, subcontractors, and trades to meet schedule and quality targets.
- Follow Health & Safety and chemical handling practices; use PPE at all times.
- Someone with practical flooring experience or strong trade basics (1+ year preferred) who wants to learn advanced systems like epoxy and polished concrete on the job.
- Reliable, punctual, and client-focused with a professional onsite manner.
- Comfortable taking direction, working in a small team, and learning new techniques.
- Physically fit and able to handle manual tasks and lifting.
- Full New Zealand driver’s licence preferred; reliable transport desirable.
- Right to work in New Zealand.
- Structured on-the-job training for epoxy coatings and polished concrete processes.
- Safety, tool use, and substrate preparation training included.
- Path to formal certification and progression to Senior Technician or Site Lead roles.
- Carpentry or flooring apprenticeship or trade qualification.
- Prior exposure to epoxy resin systems, concrete polishing, or commercial fit-outs.
- Asbestos awareness, working at heights, or confined space training.
- Comfortable using grinders, sanders, burnishers, and power tools.
- Basic digital skills for photo reporting and simple job forms (smartphone/WhatsApp).
- Competitive hourly rate or salary based on experience.
