About the Role

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced registered nurse for the position of Nurse Manager Surgery Anaesthesia. This is an opportunity to gain skills and experience working in a senior nurse role with a supportive team of knowledgeable and experienced CNM's and NM's in the Surgery Anaesthesia Directorate.

This position requires participation in the Hospital Manager afterhours oncall roster.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversight of patient care, including inpatient areas
  • Supporting and leading bed flow
  • Leading quality initiatives
  • Managing incidents and risks
  • leading change and improvement projects
  • Supporting a team to provide excellent patient care.

About the Team/Service

The Surgery Anaesthesia Directorate is a large service responsible for the delivery of both acute and planned care. Our Surgery and Anaesthesia department at Waikato Hospital is comprised of 24 Operating Theatres, four Cardiac Cath labs, Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit, Day of Surgery Admission Unit, 13 surgical specialty wards, Critical Care HDU ICU and Cardiac Care Unit.

About you

Required skills experience you will need to be considered for this role;
  • a minimum of5 years' previous nursing experience in a tertiary hospital setting
  • a post-graduate qualification
  • enthusiasm and commitment to role model and lead in a changing environment
  • strong patient focus
  • proven experience leading projects and/or change initiatives
  • excellent communication skills
