The Crown Response Office was established in September 2024 to coordinate and facilitate cross
- government decision making and implement the Crown's response to the Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry.
The creation of the Office within a central Government agency was a key recommendation in the Royal Commission's final report, Whanaketia
- through pain and trauma, from darkness to light.The Crown Response Office plays an important strategic, advisory and coordination role to ensure the Crown is joined up and focused on the right priorities.
The duration of this role will be until the end of June 2027, as the functional deliverables are time-bound, and can be either a secondment, or fixed term employment opportunity for the right person.This role is responsible for leading the strategic delivery of stakeholder engagement and programme outcomes for the Crown response, in alignment with the Crown Response Office priorities.The role currently has two direct reports:The Manager Stakeholder Engagement
- leads a team responsible for the design and implementation of strategic engagement initiatives to inform the Crown's responseThe Manager Programme Planning and Delivery
- leads a team responsible for coordinating the delivery of the overall Crown response in a single programme environmentKey accountabilities include:Lead the design and delivery of purpose-driven, inclusive and transparent engagement processes to inform decision making.Lead cross-system collaboration for stakeholder engagement to ensure continuity and sustainability in the Crown response.Develop a system-wide strategic engagement approach with a range of stakeholders to support the delivery of the Crown response.Provide oversight and accountability for the portfolio of programmes and projects within the Crown Response Office.Lead the identification and management of risks, issues and gaps across both engagement programme delivery ensuring proactive mitigation and strategic contingency planning.You will bring:Proven experience leading leaders of appropriate teams to this role.Empathy and a deep understanding of the unique and diverse experiences of survivors and their families.
Sound understanding of machinery of government and experience of working in a public sector environment.Knowledge of te ao Maori, tikanga and kawa and a sound understanding of the implications of Te Tiriti on today's society and public service.
