The Office sits within the Public Service Commission.
The creation of the Office within a central Government agency was a key recommendation in the Royal Commission's final report, Whanaketia
  • through pain and trauma, from darkness to light.The Crown Response Office plays an important strategic, advisory and coordination role to ensure the Crown is joined up and focused on the right priorities.We have a newly created opportunity for a General Manager Redress System Strategy reporting to the Chief Executive.

The duration of this role will be for 12 months, as the functional deliverables are time-bound, and can be either a secondment, or fixed term employment opportunity for the right person.This role is responsible for supporting the Government's ongoing redress system design for survivors of abuse in care, based on Cabinet decisions for improvements to current redress settings and processes.

This role is also responsible for coordinating implementation of Cabinet's redress decisions.
Key accountabilities include:Drive strategic planning and delivery of the Redress System Strategy.
Development of strategy and planning to support and inform Ministerial advice and decision making.
Establishment and guidance of strategic relationships and partnerships necessary to deliver the Redress System Strategy.
Work closely with the Stakeholder Engagement team to ensure the perspectives of key stakeholders are embedded within key strategies and policies.

​ Lead briefings and reports to Government officials, and ministers including via Ministerial and Cabinet papers, aide memoires and budget bids.​ Work closely with Strategy and Policy to develop advice on outstanding redress design considerations.

​ Lead, alongside others, in preserving, developing and maintaining effective Māori
  • Crown relationships.

Understand the full breadth of what the Crown Response Office delivers and the strategic and political context in which it operates.

Anticipate the risks and opportunities that lie ahead and bring these ideas to be tested and challenged in strategic conversations.
You will bring:Proven experience leading leaders of delivery teams in a service delivery or programme environment.
Proven experience leading leaders of a system-wide work programme with a range of stakeholders.
Demonstrated credibility and strong relationships with social sector stakeholders at a senior level.
Empathy and a deep understanding of the unique and diverse experiences of survivors and their families.
Sound understanding of machinery of government and experience of working in a public sector environment balancing diverse demands and issues.
Knowledge of te ao Maori, tikanga and kawa and a sound understanding of the implications of Te Tiriti on today's society and public service.
Based in central Wellington, this is an interesting role where you will have the opportunity to lead the strategic delivery of tangible actions and drive engagement across the system.
