  • About the Role: The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is looking for two experienced and strategic content writers and creators to join our Content team.

These fixed-term roles will support the Our Future Services programme—a major initiative to transform Immigration New Zealand's online services and improve the customer experience for migrants, employers, and advisers.

The Our Future Services programme will change how immigration services are delivered—making them more accessible, user-friendly, and digitally enabled.
With this opportunity, we are embedding plain English content into every stage of a migrant's application journey.
As a Senior Advisor, you'll lead the development of customer-focused content that simplifies complex regulatory information
  • ensuring our forms and correspondence are clear, accessible, accurate and empathetic.You'll be a fast learner, quick to understand immigration rules and the needs of our customers and staff.
You'll be able to produce polished content with minimal input from subject matter experts.

You'll also: Work closely with other channel owners, including our website, content and marketing teams, to ensure a consistent end-to-end customer experience.

Think strategically across an application journey
  • from completing a form to responding to information requests or concerns we have
  • to put the right information in the right spot.

Understand and advocate for the needs of diverse users, especially migrants.

Understand the needs of our frontline staff, to ensure our content works for them.
Contribute to a culture of plain language and inclusive communication.

These roles are dedicated to the Our Future Services programme and sit in MBIE's Immigration Content team.

  • Skills and Experience Required: Proven experience in plain English writing, content strategy, and behaviour change communication.

Skilled at developing content solutions that meet user needs and regulatory requirements.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Experience working in regulatory or government environments.
Qualifications or equivalent experience in technical writing, content design, or communications.

Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.

Bonus if you have: Experience in UX, service design, and/or working with migrant communities.
