About the role

The Behaviour Support Facilitator plays a key role in supporting and developing high-quality service delivery within the Whaikaha team. Working closely with the Clinical Psychologist and wider multidisciplinary team, this role supports individuals and groups with complex needs through evidence-based behavioural assessment and intervention.

You will provide leadership in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), build capability across the team, and contribute to equitable, culturally responsive services that improve outcomes for Maori and all communities.

Key responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive functional behaviour assessments and monitor behavioural change in response to interventions
  • Develop and implement behaviour support plans using a Positive Behaviour Support framework
  • Support and coach team members to apply behaviour support strategies consistently
  • Deliver empirically based behavioural interventions to individuals and groups with complex needs
  • Analyse data and provide clear, timely written reports
  • Work in close partnership with the Whaikaha Clinical Psychologist, including active participation in supervision
  • Contribute to service development and continuous improvement across the Whaikaha team

  • Demonstrating awareness of colonisation, power relationships, and cultural impact on service delivery
  • Showing commitment to self-reflection, critical consciousness, and taking a stand for equity
  • Supporting Maori-led and Pacific-led responses

About you

Essential
  • Undergraduate degree in Psychology
  • Training in Applied Behaviour Analysis
  • Strong knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support
  • Experience working with neurodiverse individuals
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice
  • Working understanding of bicultural practice and commitment to culturally responsive service delivery
Desirable
  • Master's degree in psychology
  • Experience providing education, consultation, or supervision to colleagues
  • Experience working within complex systems
  • Experience designing and delivering group programmes
